How long is my fire extinguisher good for?
This is an extremely common question we receive in regards to these OEM fire extinguisher kits we sell. All of our fire extinguishers are still currently being produced to be able to provide you with the most life out of your fire extinguisher. If you have an older model that you are simply looking to replace, we suggest looking for a replacement around the 7.5 year mark, but some manufacturers say they have up to a 20 year lifespan if stored properly. Due to these being vehicle mounted, we recommend checking them frequently once they reach the 5 year mark.
After 5 years, how do i check my fire extinguisher? This is another really good question, all of our OEM fire extinguishers have a pressure gauge that can be viewed once removed from the bracket (removing the extinguisher only applies to some applications). You will need to verify that your fire extinguisher gauge needle shows to be in the green, as picture below. If your fire extinguisher shows in the red, that means that the fire extinguisher is either over or underpressured and is not to be relied on any further and should be replaced as soon as possible.
